‘Show up Friday or lose the contract’ – Roads Minister warns Top International over abandoned Enchi–Elubo road

Roads Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza has warned the contractor Top International Engineering (Gh) Ltd. that it must appear before the Ministry by Friday to explain its handling of the stalled Enchi–Elubo road project or face having its contract terminated. The 71.25-kilometre project in the Western North Region was awarded to the company in 2016.

Agbodza emphasized the government's lack of tolerance for the contractor's apparent disinterest in completing the project. He stated that the contractor has repeatedly ignored directives to return to the site and accelerate work, and had failed to attend meetings with the Ministry and Highway authorities. The government had previously raised concerns about the poor state of the road, but the contractor did not show up for these discussions.

Agbodza expressed disappointment in Top International, stating that the company did not take the government's instructions seriously. He criticized the contractor for thinking it could rely solely on the GH¢82 million already paid for the project, remarking that the payment is secured by a bond that the government could cash if the contract is terminated.

The Minister also criticized the quality of work completed along the project route, noting the absence of essential road infrastructure such as drainage and concrete work.
