Roll-out of SMART locks in technical areas: request your new SMART key

At CERN, the SCE-SSC Service and EN-AA Service are progressively introducing a new electronic access system in several technical areas of the organization. This innovative system, based on iLoq technology, utilizes SMART keys and self-charging SMART cylinders that don't require batteries or wires, ultimately enhancing security for infrequently accessed areas while improving access traceability.

Certain areas have already been equipped with the system during a pilot phase. To obtain a SMART cylinder, users can request one by filling out a form in the EDH. The mechanical locks in the designated areas will gradually be replaced by these SMART cylinders, with access granted through a single SMART key for all equipped areas corresponding to the granted access rights. Authorizations are managed through ADAMS, and keys must be regularly updated via a smartphone to maintain active access rights.

For more information, users can refer to procedure KB0010770. The areas affected by this first phase of the roll-out include various entrances to different galleries via different buildings. Users needing access to these areas should request a SMART key through the key request form in EDH. For any questions, the Locks and Keys Service can be contacted at locks-keys-service@cern.ch.
