Report Friedkin Group keeps focus on Roma, so could sell Everton over UEFA rules

The Friedkin Group, which oversees both Roma and Everton, is reportedly prepared to sell Everton if UEFA’s new co-ownership rules force them to choose between the two clubs. The American family-run fund bought Roma in 2020, then Cannes in 2023, and added Everton to their portfolio in 2024. However, the group's previous belief that a "structural solution" would allow them to avoid selling one of the two clubs is no longer feasible, according to The Times.

UEFA has warned Dan Friedkin and the other directors that their approach would not work if both teams qualify for the same European competition. This season, Roma's qualification for the Champions League and Everton's failure to secure a UEFA tournament spot has made the decision more pressing. While there's a possibility of placing one of the clubs in a blind trust, with independent figures guiding it, the Times suggests that Everton would likely be the club taken out of active management due to its relatively shorter investment history compared to Roma.

The Friedkin Group's involvement in Pursuit Sports, a structure established 18 months ago to share data and experience among the three clubs under one umbrella, further complicates the situation, potentially leading to a sale of Everton or a portion of the Premier League club while maintaining Roma as the flagship of the Friedkin Group portfolio.
