Police arrest two, recover 11 phones, laptop after Ogun hostel robbery

The Ogun State Police Command in Nigeria apprehended two suspects and recovered 11 iPhones, an HP laptop, and clothing items following a failed robbery at a student hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area of Ewekoro Local Government. The incident took place at around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, when police responded to a distress call about armed robbers targeting students.

Divisional Police Officer of the Ewekoro Division led a team to the scene, who chased the suspects away after they dropped their loot in a school bag. The suspects, Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun, were later arrested. During a search of the abandoned bag, investigators found the stolen devices and items. Some victims identified the recovered property as theirs, and preliminary investigations showed one victim was forced to transfer N200,000 during the robbery.

Police visited the suspects' homes but found no additional evidence. The suspects and recovered items are now being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
