Police arrest two, recover 11 phones, laptop after Ogun hostel robbery

Ogun State police have apprehended two individuals and recovered 11 smartphones, an HP laptop, and clothing items following a robbery at a student hostel in Eruku/Agbon area, Ewekoro Local Government Area. The suspects, Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun, were arrested on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m. after responding to a distress call about an armed gang targeting students.

The suspects abandoned their stolen goods in a school bag before attempting to flee but were subsequently captured by the police. Some victims identified the recovered property as belonging to them, and initial investigations revealed that one victim was coerced into transferring N200,000 during the robbery. Police have visited the scene, documented forced entry, and secured the recovered items.

Searches of the suspects' residences yielded no additional evidence. The suspects and the recovered property are being handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
