Petrol Pump Owners Shockingly Unaware How Rs. 100 Subsidy Works

Petrol pump owners in Pakistan are reportedly unaware of how the government's Rs. 100 per liter fuel relief package will be distributed to them, according to the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association. Humayun Khan, the association's chairman, stated that pump owners have not been informed about the subsidy, raising concerns that this lack of clarity could lead to disputes between customers and petrol pump owners over the subsidy.

Nauman Butt, the association's general secretary, added that while the government has announced the subsidy, it has not clearly explained the mechanism through which petrol pump owners would receive the funds.

The Rs. 100 per liter fuel subsidy is targeted at motorcycles, rickshaws, two and three-wheelers, and cars with engines up to 800cc. Motorcycles and rickshaws can avail up to 20 liters of fuel per month, while cars are eligible for up to 30 liters. The scheme is intended for non-commercial users and is being implemented nationwide following its initial rollout in Islamabad.
