Kwadaso NDC supporters demand removal of MCE over ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ project

In the Kwadaso Constituency of the Ashanti Region, supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have staged a protest demanding the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Eric Asibey. The protestors claim that only 3,000 birds, instead of the 10,000 allocated, have been distributed under the government's "Nkoko Nkitinkiti" poultry project.

One of the placards carried by the demonstrators read, "Where are our 10,000 Nkoko Nkitinkiti? You gave us only 3,000." The NDC party faithful allege that Asibey's handling of the project undermines the government's poverty alleviation efforts and accuse him of corruption and failing to support development in the municipality. The protestors presented a petition to the constituency party executives, detailing various accusations against the MCE.

Abdul Aziz Haruna, the NDC Branch Youth Organiser for Sofoline, stated that the grassroots had previously approached the MCE with recommendations to improve the welfare of constituents and party supporters, alleging that he has been involved in corrupt dealings with car dealers in Sofoline and Kwadaso Edwenease. Asibey denies all allegations, asserting that his administration has executed its mandate effectively.

He claims that the assembly distributed 3,800 birds, which is the quantity received so far, and provided a report to prove the figure. Asibey also refuted the corruption accusations and expressed willingness to collaborate with all factions to develop the municipality.
