NDC supporters demand removal of Kwadaso MCE

A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) followers in Kwadaso Constituency, located in the Ashanti Region, gathered to protest against Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Eric Asibey. The demonstrators, comprising ward coordinators, branch executives, and other party members, accused Asibey of neglecting the party's grassroots structures and not addressing the concerns they had raised.

During the protest, they presented a petition to the constituency party executives, urging prominent figures such as President John Dramani Mahama, the Chief of Staff, the Minister for Local Government, the Ashanti Regional Minister, and the party's national, regional, and constituency executives to revoke Asibey's appointment. Abdul Aziz Haruna, the Youth Organiser for the Sofoline Branch, stated that the grassroots had met with Asibey multiple times and submitted recommendations aimed at boosting party support and enhancing the welfare of constituents.

He lamented that the failure to act on these concerns led the group to express their grievances publicly. The protesters also questioned the distribution of birds under the government's Nkoko Nketekete initiative, alleging that Kwadaso received only slightly more than 3,000 birds instead of the expected 10,000. However, Asibey dismissed the allegations, asserting that he was dedicated to fulfilling President Mahama's mandate in the municipality and denying any discrimination.

This demonstration occurred as discussions within the Kwadaso NDC continue to focus on grassroots mobilisation and engagement, with recent emphasis placed on strengthening the party's presence and support base in the area.
