Japan’s Minister of the Environment and Other Government Officials Visit ICO Terminal at the Port of Zeebrugge, Belgium

On September 6, a delegation of 12 Japanese government officials, including Hirotaka Ishihara, Minister of the Environment, visited International Car Operators N.V. (ICO), a subsidiary of the NYK Group, at its finished-vehicle terminal in the Port of Zeebrugge, Belgium. The group also toured the LNG-fueled Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) Wild Rose Leader operated by the NYK Group. They were guided through the ship's key areas, including the bridge and engine room, by the vessel's captain and chief engineer.

The delegation spent approximately three hours at the finished-vehicle terminal, where they received a briefing on the NYK Group's decarbonization strategy and its advocacy efforts with the European Union (EU). They were also introduced to the company's advanced decarbonization initiatives, such as on-site wind power generation facilities and shore power systems for RoRo vessels powered by renewable energy.

During the tour of the Wild Rose Leader, the visitors were informed about the NYK Group's efforts to promote next-generation fuels as part of the shipping industry's transition toward decarbonization. The NYK Group intends to continue collaborating with ICO, other group companies, and business partners to foster sustainable supply chains and enhance industrial competitiveness.
