Book and research allowance to be paid by end of September – Education Minister to TUTAG

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has assured that the outstanding 2025/2026 Book and Research Allowance for Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) members will be paid by the end of September 2026. This commitment follows TUTAG's previous concerns about the delay in payment and their threat to take industrial action if the issue was not resolved.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, September 16, Mr Iddrisu confirmed that the payment process had already begun. He revealed that information on approximately 8,000 members has been forwarded to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department. Members whose details have already been captured can expect to receive their allowance with their September salaries.

Mr Iddrisu expressed satisfaction that some members will receive their Book and Research Allowance in their upcoming September salary. He also mentioned that as of the close of work on Tuesday, September 15, he had spoken to the Controller and Accountant-General, who assured him that data has been entered for up to 8,000 persons.
