Awqaf publishes debut book of ‘In Clear Arabic’ series to revive cultural identity

Doha, Qatar - The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has released the inaugural volume of its "In Clear Arabic" series, emphasizing the Arabic language's pivotal role in fostering cultural awareness, safeguarding identity, and enhancing the intellectual base of the Muslim Ummah. The book, titled "Arabic: Horizons of the Present and Prospects for the Future - Towards Cultural Reconstruction and Reviving the Foundations of Identity," compiles the proceedings of a symposium held at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque on November 4, 2025.

Edited by the Department of Islamic Research and Studies, the publication features research contributions from Qatar University scholars, as well as insights from Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani and Mishari bin Ali Al Namlan.

Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al Thani, Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies, highlighted the symposium as a platform aimed at elevating the status of Arabic in culture and Islamic identity, reinforcing its societal role and strengthening its cultural significance. He underscored Arabic's role as a protector of the Ummah's identity and a vessel for its civilizational and intellectual heritage.

According to Sheikh Al Thani, the language is crucial for preserving the faith and enabling access to the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The symposium also aims to address the challenges posed by globalization, cultural westernization, and the erosion of authentic beliefs and heritage, which threaten the vitality of the Arabic language.
