Anthropic to open Singapore office in October, hire locally

Anthropic, an AI company, will establish an office in Singapore in October, marking its fifth location in the Asia-Pacific region. The company, known for developing the Claude AI model, announced the move in a press release on September 16, stating it will hire for various roles. According to Anthropic's careers site, there are nine Singapore-based openings across five teams.

Singapore ranks second out of 121 countries in Claude.ai usage relative to population, with usage being 5.81 times higher than expected based on population size. Anthropic's managing director of international, Chris Ciauri, noted that the office's opening is a natural next step, allowing them to hire local talent and collaborate with customers and partners.

The company highlighted Singapore's strong concentration of technical talent, global businesses, research institutions, and innovation ecosystem, as well as its push to use AI responsibly. Dale Finlay, a former Google Cloud executive, has joined Anthropic as general manager of ASEAN, based in Singapore. Senior Anthropic leaders will visit Singapore for the office's opening and engage with customers, partners, and policymakers.
