14-year-old drives car, causes two crashes in Penang

Butterworth: A 14-year-old boy was behind the wheel when he caused two separate car accidents near Taman Chai Leng, Perai, according to the Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief. The incident unfolded around 4:50 pm yesterday when the teenager crashed into a parked car on the road shoulder. Continuing his journey, the young driver allegedly drove against the flow of traffic, colliding with another vehicle on Lebuh Kurau 5.

Police received a report about the accidents at 8:47 pm on the same day. Assistant Commissioner Nik Aminuddin Raja Abdullah stated that the police also noticed a video of the incident circulating on social media. The collisions resulted in damage to all three vehicles involved. However, there were no reported injuries in the case.

The incident is currently under investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to reckless and dangerous driving. Further investigations are ongoing. Earlier, a video showing the teenager driving dangerously had circulated on social media before being stopped by members of the public at the scene.
