1,432 human trafficking victims receive rehabilitation support – Minister

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection announced that 1,432 individuals who have been victims of human trafficking have received rehabilitation support as part of the government's response to trafficking and exploitation. Minister Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey revealed that 181 victims have also received trauma-informed care at government shelters, while another 69 have been referred for additional assistance.

The interventions are part of a broader initiative to demonstrate the government's zero-tolerance stance against gender-based violence and exploitation through practical services for survivors. The Ministry has also broadened its support for survivors of domestic violence. According to Dr Lartey, 152 survivors have received counselling, legal, and financial assistance, and a shelter has been established in Accra, with two others supported in the Upper West and Eastern Regions.
