Zonda Tech expansion expected to create 1000 indirect jobs – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama announced the upcoming expansion of Zonda Tech Ghana Limited's vehicle assembly plant, expecting it to generate around 1,000 indirect jobs within the automotive sector. The Phase III expansion is expected to nearly double the direct employment at the company, which operates in Tema. Mahama emphasized that the investment will significantly boost employment opportunities, creating approximately 1,000 additional indirect jobs in various supporting industries, including logistics, maintenance, component supply, distribution, and more.

The expansion is part of Ghana's strategy to make manufacturing a key driver of employment and economic development. The vehicles produced at the expanded plant will support multiple sectors, such as agriculture, mining, construction, and regional trade. Mahama commended Zonda Tech for setting up the Zonda Tech Academy to train young Ghanaians in automotive skills and noted that the company has also offered scholarships for young Ghanaians to study automotive manufacturing in China.

The training initiatives aim to develop a skilled workforce to sustain the growth of Ghana's automotive manufacturing industry, with the government anticipating the expansion to create quality jobs for young people and enhance Ghana's capacity to manufacture and export vehicles to African markets.
