Zonda Tec expansion to create 1,000 indirect jobs - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama announced that the expansion of the Zonda Tec Ghana assembly plant will create approximately 1,000 indirect jobs within the country's automotive industry. This investment is projected to nearly double the company's current direct workforce while stimulating employment in various aspects of the automotive value chain, including logistics, vehicle maintenance, component supply, distribution, and other ancillary services.

Mahama made the announcement on September 15, during the commissioning of the third phase of the Zonda Tec Ghana Assembly Plant. He emphasized that the expansion would significantly boost employment opportunities, almost doubling direct employment at Zonda Tec while generating around 1,000 additional indirect jobs.

The President highlighted the importance of Zonda Tec's investment in skills development, praising the company for establishing an academy to train young Ghanaians in automotive-related skills. He emphasized that this initiative contributes to building the technical workforce necessary to support Ghana's growing automotive sector.

In addition, Mahama commended Zonda Tec for establishing the Zonda Tec Foundation, which offers scholarships for young Ghanaians to pursue specialized training in automotive manufacturing in China. He stressed that such initiatives are crucial for ensuring that the country's automotive industry benefits from a skilled and competent workforce.

Mahama concluded by stressing that investments in human capital development must accompany the expansion of manufacturing capacity. He expressed his belief that the combination of industrial investment and skills training would provide more young Ghanaians with the technical expertise required to contribute meaningfully to the automotive value chain.
