Zonda Tech expansion expected to create 1,000 indirect jobs – President Mahama

Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama announced that Zonda Tech Ghana Limited's Phase III expansion of its vehicle assembly plant in Tema is projected to generate around 1,000 indirect jobs within the automotive industry. The direct employment at the company is expected to almost double due to the increased production capacity. The expanded plant is expected to support various sectors of Ghana's economy such as agriculture, mining, construction, and regional trade.

The vehicles produced will not only transport goods but also aid in agricultural produce distribution, support mining operations, strengthen the construction sector, and facilitate regional trade.

President Mahama also praised Zonda Tech for establishing the Zonda Tech Academy, a training program for young Ghanaians in automotive skills. The company has further pledged scholarships for young Ghanaians to study automotive manufacturing in China. The President commended these initiatives aimed at developing the skilled workforce necessary for Ghana's growing automotive manufacturing industry.

He emphasized the government's expectation for the expansion to create quality jobs for young people and enhance Ghana's capacity to manufacture and export vehicles to African markets.
