Trump slams ‘horrible’ Supreme Court mail-in ballot ruling

In a recent development, President Donald Trump harshly criticized the Supreme Court for its decision not to overturn his executive order restricting mail-in voting ahead of the November midterm elections. On Tuesday, Trump accused the court of being intimidated by Democrats and lacking the courage to protect the nation. He labeled the decision "horrible" and "highly political."

Trump's executive order, signed in March, aimed to curtail mail-in voting, claiming it was susceptible to fraud despite lacking evidence to support this assertion. The order soon faced multiple legal challenges from Democratic-led states, which argued that the Constitution grants states broad control over election administration, not the federal government.

In a concurring opinion, Justice Brett Kavanaugh stated that while Trump's plan might ultimately be legal, state and local election officials might not have enough time to implement the rule before the elections. Two out of the six conservative justices offered a dissent.

Trump's allegations of widespread mail-in ballot fraud were baseless and portrayed the US mail voting system as a "laughing stock all over the World." He lamented that the US was "the only country that has to endure such a Nation Destroying SCAM." Despite the fact that more than 30 countries allow citizens to vote via mail-in ballots, Trump argued that this was a significant loss for Republicans and America, creating an easier opportunity for cheating by the Radical Left Democrats.

The Supreme Court's decision is seen as a major setback for Republicans and the nation, further fueling the debate over partisan redistricting in around a dozen states. With high political stakes ahead of the Nov 3 elections, Republicans hold narrow congressional majorities, while Democrats are favored to capture the House and possibly the Senate. Trump's approval ratings remain weak, and voters are frustrated over rising living costs and the ongoing Iran war.
