This small B.C. village records twice the Canadian average for daily water use, and officials aren’t sure why
Canal Flats in B.C.'s East Kootenay recorded usage of about 690 litres of water per person per day in 2025. The village says possible leaks, aging water mains and a lack of water meters make it hard to know where all of the water is going.
