Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, has decided to postpone the Johor Family Day Carnival, set for September 16th, due to the worsening haze situation in the state. The decision was made public through a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page, where Her Majesty stated that the carnival should only be held once air quality improves.

She urged the public, especially senior citizens, children, and those with respiratory issues, to take necessary precautions against the deteriorating air quality. Despite her wish to provide a platform for the people to create joyful memories on Malaysia Day, Her Majesty emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health and well-being of the populace.

The carnival, a creation of Her Majesty's inspiration, organized by the state government and Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor (YRZSNJ), offers locals and visitors a chance to celebrate with their families and children during Malaysia Day festivities. Several districts in Johor have witnessed unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings today, notably Johor Bahru with a reading of 162, Pasir Gudang at 159, and Larkin with 159 as well.
