Russian frigate fires flares towards Danish military helicopter, says Denmark

The Danish military has reported that a Russian frigate fired two flares towards one of its Fennec military helicopters during a routine mission off the coast of Denmark. The incident occurred in international waters, according to the Danish Defence Command. The Fennec helicopter was tasked with photographing the Russian frigate when one of the flares narrowly missed the aircraft.

The Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, described the incident as "unacceptable" and expressed concern that it could have endangered human lives. He emphasized Denmark's commitment to ensuring safe passage for all ships through Danish waters, but stated that Russia's actions indicate a gradual shift in what it considers acceptable behavior.

In response to the incident, the Danish Foreign Minister summoned the Russian Ambassador to Denmark for a meeting. However, the Russian embassy has not yet commented on the matter.
