Russian economy increasingly fragile after Ukraine drone attacks

Russian forces initiated a significant drone attack against Ukraine on September 15, according to the Air Force. A total of 200 Shahed, jet-powered Shahed, and Gerbera UAVs, along with Parodiya decoy drones, were deployed from multiple Russian locations. These included Orel, Kursk, Millerovo in Russia, as well as occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

As of 08:00 a.m. the following day, Ukrainian air defenses had managed to neutralize or shoot down 187 of the enemy UAVs. The impact of the drones was felt in seven different locations, with debris from the destroyed targets falling in three distinct areas. The Air Force issued a warning that the Russian attack was still ongoing.

Russian drones specifically targeted warehouses and a gas station in Kyiv's Obolonskyi and Darnytskyi districts. The assault on Kyiv persisted well into the morning hours, prompting the city's administration to issue warnings about active air defense fire over the capital. Local monitoring groups reported sightings of jet-powered drones flying over Kyiv, with potential strikes reported near the Shuliavka neighborhood and the Kyiv Zoo.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that a drone had struck an office building in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district.

Independent monitoring channels also reported that Russian forces had struck an Ukrnafta gas station on Bazhana Avenue in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district. This marked the fourth such strike on an Ukrnafta station in Kyiv since September 10. The incident underscores the escalating conflict and the relentless aggression from Russian forces in the region.
