NADA to station officers at RTS Link entry points from Dec 31

KUALA LUMPUR: In preparation for the opening of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link on December 31, the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) will station officers from its Anti-Drugs Border Unit (UAS) at two entry points. These officers will be stationed at the Bukit Chagar ICQS Complex in Johor and the Woodlands North CIQ Complex in Singapore.

NADA director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh made this announcement following a bilateral meeting with Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). The RTS Link service is expected to significantly increase cross-border movement, necessitating strong cooperation and preparedness among enforcement agencies of both countries to maintain a safe environment free from drug threats.

During the meeting, NADA and CNB discussed operational arrangements, coordination mechanisms, and rapid communication channels at the main entry points. They also reviewed emerging cross-border drug threats, such as the use of technology and online platforms, new psychoactive substances, and evolving drug-smuggling methods. Ruslin emphasized that the success of this cooperation relies not only on official discussions but also on practical follow-up actions by operational teams from both sides.
