Pocognoli on McBurnie, faith in youth and 'expermintation'

Sebastian Pocognoli, the newly appointed head coach of the Scotland national team, addressed the media following his announcement of the first Scotland squad. Among the seven uncapped players, Pocognoli selected five first-time call-ups. In his speech, Pocognoli emphasized the importance of the style of play he wished to exhibit with his team.

According to Pocognoli, his primary focus was on choosing players who could embody that style of play. Regarding Luis Binks, Pocognoli stated that there was no need to convince him to play for Scotland. The Belgian defender's timing and readiness to represent the country were deemed appropriate. Instead, he insisted that the selected players must perform well for him to include them in the squad.

He assured that the door was not closed on players who had been overlooked for selection, emphasizing that his new approach did not invalidate the previous team's efforts.

Finally, Pocognoli praised Colby Donovan, a Celtic full-back who made his debut call-up. Despite his young age, Donovan has been performing well and must improve like any other young player.
