Penang PH doesn’t share Guan Eng’s Umno stand, says Chow

Penang PH chief Chow Kon Yeow has dismissed DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng's recent call for Umno to be removed from the state government. The state chairman clarified that the Penang PH chapter has not received any directive from the central leadership on the matter, urging parties to await a decision by the PH presidential council. Lim's statement does not represent the party's stance, and they will adhere to their previously stated position, as reported by Berita Harian.

Chow emphasized that party leaders should refrain from issuing statements that might cause confusion, allowing the PH presidential council to convene and deliberate on the weakening ties with Barisan Nasional (BN). Lim had challenged Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to confront Penang PH regarding the potential expulsion of Umno's sole representative in the state government.

The former chief minister suggested that the BN stalwart should not exploit the indecision and hesitation within the Penang PH leadership. Lim's remarks came in response to Zahid's statements during the recent Umno general assembly, which included his assertion that Umno could outperform Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in governing the nation.

Additionally, Zahid challenged Anwar to remove his coalition from the unity government and face a vote of no confidence in the Dewan Rakyat. In October, Penang PH opted to sustain its collaboration with BN in the state government, despite BN's alliance with Perikatan Nasional in the Negeri Sembilan election.
