Mum of BU school murder victim seeks support for petition to appeal acquittal

The mother of a 16-year-old girl, fatally stabbed at a school in Bandar Utama, has called for public support in a petition urging the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) to appeal the acquittal of a 15-year-old boy charged with her daughter's murder. In a Facebook post, the girl's mother, Wong Lee Ping, shared links to the petition and the AGC's public complaints system. She explained that the family's legal options were limited, as the decision to file an appeal and its approach were ultimately up to the prosecution.

Wong emphasized that the family was not attempting to predict the case's outcome. Instead, they hoped for the proper legal process to receive due consideration, the right to appeal, where legally available, to be exercised, and for the voice of a mother who has lost her daughter to be heard. On October 14, the teenager was charged with fatally stabbing the girl in a school toilet between 9:20 am and 9:35 am.

After a psychiatric assessment in January, the boy was deemed fit to stand trial. The murder trial began on August 3, held in camera due to the minor's involvement. He was ordered to enter his defense on August 13.
