'He's Perfect At Doing Drama But This Is Court': Rajpal Yadav Gets Last Chance From SC, Asked To Deposit ₹2 Crore In Cheque-Bounce Cases

On Tuesday, September 15, the Supreme Court granted actor Rajpal Yadav a final two-week window to propose a solution for settling his outstanding debts in multiple cheque-bounce cases. The court also ordered him to deposit Rs 2 crore with the apex court registry. Chief Justice Surya Kant headed the bench with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, who extended his exemption until October 5.

The matter will be heard again on the same date. The bench expressed concern over Yadav's conduct, noting that earlier court orders had not been followed. Despite being described as "perfect at doing drama," Yadav faced a stern warning. Senior advocate PS Patwalia representing Yadav sought two weeks to submit a concrete proposal for clearing the outstanding amount, while also committing to deposit Rs 2 crore.

Patwalia further explained that Yadav had previously spent four-and-a-half months in prison and would require assistance from friends in the entertainment industry to arrange the funds. The complainant, M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd, emphasized their primary concern over recovering their money, stating that Yadav had failed to fulfill his commitments.

The dispute involves a financial assistance of Rs 5 crore allegedly provided to Yadav for a film in 2010, leading to the dishonour of seven cheques worth Rs 1.05 crore each in 2013. The complainant claimed that an agreement from 2012 required repayment of approximately Rs 11 crore, including interest. The matter has been ongoing for years, with Yadav previously receiving a three-month jail sentence reduced to one in 2019 and a three-month term upheld by the Delhi High Court on July 10.

Yadav's wife, Radha Rajpal Yadav, was also fined around Rs 5.5 lakh per case, with defaulting leading to three months of imprisonment.
