Muhyiddin hopes remaining charges will be dropped

Former Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin expressed hope that the remaining charges against him would be dropped following his acquittal on three money laundering and one abuse of power charge. Initially facing four counts of abusing power to obtain RM232.5 million in bribes and three money laundering charges involving RM200 million, Muhyiddin was acquitted of the latter two charges after Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib requested a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA).

The former premier, who maintained his innocence throughout the trial, thanked God for the outcome and hoped that the remaining charges would also be dropped. The prosecution is currently closing its case against Muhyiddin on three other abuse of power charges related to the Jana Wibawa programme, where he is accused of soliciting RM25.3 million in bribes from four companies.
