Muhyiddin relieved after acquittal on four charges, hopes to be freed from three remaining charges

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin expressed relief after the High Court acquitted him of four charges, hoping to eventually be freed from three more charges. The acquittal came after the court decided that Muhyiddin should be discharged instead of given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) for the four charges.

Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin explained that the court exercised its discretion in favor of the accused due to the prosecution's lack of reasoning for continuing with those specific charges. The prosecution has now closed its case on the three remaining charges, which involve allegations of power abuse and RM25.3 million in alleged bribes for Muhyiddin's party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

The High Court has scheduled November 26, December 1 to 3 for the submission of arguments on whether Muhyiddin will need to defend himself against the three remaining charges.
