‘Miracle mom’ Cici announces she’s expecting baby number two

Singer, actress, and Grammy-nominated artist Cici Thwala has revealed she is expecting her second child. The announcement was made via an Instagram maternity shoot, eliciting widespread congratulations from fans and fellow celebrities. Captioning the photos, Cici expressed her gratitude, stating, "Loved before we met, prayed for before we knew you, and cherished beyond words."

Celebrity reactions to the pregnancy announcement were swift, with actress Siphesihle Ndaba, rapper Anele Zondo, and media personality Ayanda Thabethe among those offering well wishes. Cici's remarkable journey to motherhood is noteworthy. Following a reported domestic incident with her ex-partner, Arthur Mafokate, around 2017, she suffered a fractured pelvis and underwent reconstructive surgery.

Doctors had warned her that she might never be able to conceive. However, she went on to give birth to her first child, son Dialo Prince, in May 2020.

Cici's career has been defined by resilience and talent. She rose to prominence in 2015-16 with her debut single "Runaway," which topped charts and earned her the Best R&B Single and Best Styled Artist awards at the Metro FM Music Awards. She has since released three albums and hit songs like "Hamba Juba," "Thula" (featuring DJ Zinhle), "Amen" (featuring Naledi Aphiwe), and "Iqiniso."

Despite her public success, Cici has maintained a private personal life. She has shared that she and her husband negotiated lobola (bride price) in private. Her relationship with Mafokate remains active in legal proceedings, with Mafokate suing her for R1.5 million in the Johannesburg High Court, claiming her social media posts as defamatory and detrimental to his business. Cici has countered the claim, demanding proof of the alleged financial loss.
