Manyhia South MP raises alarm over alleged detention of woman whose whereabouts are unknown

Manyhia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has expressed concern over the alleged arrest and detention of Salomey Awity Bafoh, whose current whereabouts are unknown. At a press conference on Tuesday, September 15, the private legal practitioner alleged that state security agencies, led by the Signal Bureau, apprehended Ms Bafoh in Techiman on the pretext of searching for a woman called "Jollof" who is believed to know her whereabouts.

According to the lawyer, Bafoh was taken from Techiman to Accra without informing her relatives or legal counsel. He pointed out that the trip from Techiman to Accra typically takes nine hours and expressed worry that the family has not been given any information about her location or current detention.

The Manyhia South MP emphasized that the arrest procedures outlined by the law must be adhered to and criticized the lack of disclosure regarding Ms Bafoh's status, stating this raises serious concerns. His main concern is the absence of information about where she is being held, especially as her children are reportedly distraught and seeking news about their mother.

He warned that if, at this point, no one knows the whereabouts of the woman or where she is being held, it could potentially be considered an abduction by state security agencies, rather than just an arrest.
