Mansoor Delane's INT sets up Patrick Mahomes' TD run

Patrick Mahomes showcased his resilience as the Kansas City Chiefs began their 2026 season with a commanding performance. In the first drive of the game, the quarterback displayed his determination by scoring a 15-yard touchdown, instantly putting the Chiefs ahead 7-0. Despite tearing his ACL and LCL in his left knee during a previous game, Mahomes proved his worth once again.

Earlier in the drive, Mahomes also managed a 5-yard touchdown run, though it was called back due to a holding penalty. Tight end Travis Kelce narrowly avoided a penalty that could have cost the team, as he managed to avoid a penalty on Mahomes' touchdown run. The Kansas City Chiefs strategy of running the ball more frequently seemed to pay off, as they executed eight of their ten plays on the ground, accumulating a total of 57 yards.

Running back Kenneth Walker contributed with seven carries for 32 yards. Mahomes also completed a 9-yard pass to wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The Chiefs started the drive from their own 46-yard line after rookie first-round selection Mansoor Delane intercepted a pass from Denver's Bo Nix and returned it 5 yards.
