“Ghana is open, Accra is rising” – Mahama cuts sod for US$1.3bn Sentuo Airport Garden City

President John Dramani Mahama recently marked the beginning of a major development project near Accra International Airport with the ceremonial sod-cutting ceremony. The Sentuo Airport Garden City is a US$1.3 billion mixed-use development that will include 582 luxury apartments, a 500-room hotel, a conference center for 2,500, healthcare facilities, a shopping mall, gardens, and 503 parking spaces within a four-story complex.

During the event on September 15, 2026, Mahama emphasized that the project is part of Ghana's efforts to attract investment and establish Accra as a leading African city for business, tourism, and urban living. He expressed gratitude to the Sentuo Group and its chairman, Mr. Xu Ningquan, for their initiative, and urged the developers to collaborate with Ghanaian partners and deliver a project that benefits the community for years to come.

The president linked the development to the government's "Reset" agenda and its goal of creating a 24-Hour Economy, where sectors like aviation, hospitality, and events can thrive with reliable services and professional management. He also appealed to Ghanaians living abroad and international investors to invest in the country's property and tourism sectors, highlighting how a thriving tourism economy can encourage people to stay longer, explore more, and contribute to national life.

Mahama renewed his call for successful tourism and property investment to create a connected ecosystem where hospitality, well-managed accommodation, and local enterprises support and strengthen one another. He expressed his hope that Ghanaians both at home and in the diaspora, along with international investors, will all play a role in building a brighter future for the country together.
