Prez Mahama cuts sod for Sentuo Group's Airport Garden City, more than 3,000 jobs promised

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama broke ground for Sentuo Group's Airport Garden City project in Accra. The development, which the company claims will generate over 3,000 jobs, primarily for Ghanaians, was also marked by the opening of the project's sales office. President Mahama praised Sentuo Group for its ongoing investment in Ghana, emphasizing that such projects are crucial for the nation's growth and economic development.

He assured investors that the government will continue to support initiatives that create jobs and stimulate economic activity.

Sentuo Group's Executive Chairman, Xu Ningquan, announced the employment target and outlined plans for training, including apprenticeships and practical programs aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with marketable skills. The project, branded "The Garden Above Accra," will feature residential units, a hotel and conference center, healthcare facilities, shopping areas, gardens, and recreational spaces.

Sentuo Group aims to enhance Accra's appeal as a business and tourism hub through this integrated community, incorporating local creativity in landscaping, art, and interior design, as well as offering Ghanaian food and hospitality experiences.

Minister for Works and Housing, Ahmed Ibrahim, called for greater vertical development in Ghana to tackle the housing shortage, particularly in Accra, where land scarcity is a significant issue. He highlighted the country's attractiveness as an investment destination and underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in expanding Ghana's housing stock.

Sentuo Group promised prospective homeowners affordability, transparent pricing, and clear contractual terms, ensuring they receive comprehensive information on property rights, payment obligations, delivery schedules, and post-handover services before investing.
