Dowman makes history as Arsenal beat Ipswich 4-2 in Carabao Cup

However, the fruits of this expensive investment have yet to materialize, raising concerns of another relegation season ahead.

Adding to manager Roberto De Zerbi's woes, striker Richarlison took to social media to express his discontent at being left out of the squad to face Liverpool. The Brazilian has hinted at a potential move to Everton or Vasco Da Gama, both of which have recently fallen through. Tottenham face Aston Villa on Saturday in a crucial match that De Zerbi desperately needs to win to alleviate the mounting pressure as the international break approaches.

Liverpool start the season on a high, remaining unbeaten under new manager Andoni Iraola, despite only recording one victory in their first four league matches. Iraola made 10 substitutions in an attempt to invigorate his side, but they capitalized early with a flowing move that led to Gakpo's goal. Gakpo doubled Liverpool's lead in the 54th minute, delivering a precise strike into the far corner.

Tottenham managed to score their first goal of the season against a top-flight opponent in the 69th minute, courtesy of Conor Gallagher's deft finish following poor marking. However, Szoboszlai sealed the win for Liverpool with a powerful 25-yard shot in injury time. At Portman Road, Arsenal's rising star Max Dowman took center stage, showcasing his potential under new manager Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal, who suffered a heartbreaking League Cup final defeat to Manchester City the previous season, have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, winning six out of their six games across all competitions. Dowman's second goal in the 47th minute further extended Arsenal's lead. Mikel Merino extended Arsenal's advantage in the 58th minute with a curling shot following a pass from Dowman.

Ipswich managed to score a consolation goal with Anis Mehmeti's response in the 62nd minute, while Chuba Akpom secured a fourth for Arsenal in stoppage time. Fulham made nine changes to their lineup but still managed a 3-2 victory over Championship leaders West Ham, with goals from Rodrigo Muniz, Cesar Palacios, and Oscar Bobb, who netted the decisive 78th-minute winner.

Brentford triumphed 2-1 against third-tier Reading, with goals from Callum Wilson and Fabio Carvalho. On Wednesday, Manchester United will host Brighton, Aston Villa will travel to Coventry, and Everton will face Wolves. The current champions, Manchester City, will take on Norwich at home on Thursday.
