Liverpool pile on misery for Spurs in League Cup, Dowman dazzles for Arsenal

Liverpool inflicted further misery on struggling Tottenham with a 3-1 win in the League Cup third round at Anfield. Tottenham's only win this season came in the League Cup against Charlton Athletic, but the north London club's £300 million investment in 10 new players has so far failed to produce immediate results, prompting worries of another relegation battle.

Max Dowman dazzled for Arsenal in their 4-2 win over Ipswich. The 16-year-old midfielder made his mark with two goals for Arteta's young squad, including his second goal in the 47th minute, before Mikel Merino added a fourth in the 58th. Ipswich's late consolation goals from Anis Mehmeti and Chuba Akpom were not enough to prevent Arsenal's dominance in all competitions this season.
