Dowman scores twice as Arsenal beat Ipswich

Max Dowman netted twice as Arsenal claimed a comfortable Carabao Cup third-round win against Ipswich Town. The 16-year-old was one of two young players starting the match for the Gunners, alongside centre-back Marli Salmon, 17. Dowman opened the scoring with a slick solo goal in the seventh minute, using his pace and skill to break through Ipswich's defense.

He later added a second goal in the second half, showing great composure to control a pass from Martin Zubimendi and roll the ball into the far corner. Arsenal extended their lead with a fourth goal from Noni Madueke and a consolation goal from Mikel Merino. Despite Ipswich managing to score twice - through Anis Mehmeti and Chuba Akpom - the result was far from enough to dent Arsenal's season.

Both teams featured heavily rotated squads, with a combined total of 19 changes from their weekend Premier League fixtures. Arsenal, who have won every game this season, will learn their fourth-round opponents after the Manchester United tie against Brighton, with the draw taking place on Wednesday at 20:00 BST. Dowman, who has scored at a remarkably young age, cemented his place in the first team after his two-goal display at Portman Road.
