Bellamy 'committed' to Wales after Burnley talks

Craig Bellamy has reaffirmed his commitment to Wales, stating he turned down a summer approach from Championship club Burnley. The 47-year-old was appointed Wales head coach on a four-year deal in July 2024. The Football Association of Wales granted permission for Bellamy to speak with Burnley in June after they triggered a compensation clause following the Clarets' relegation from the Premier League.

Despite receiving flattering offers to return to club football, Bellamy remained comfortable with his decision to stay with Wales, particularly in the lead-up to a home European Championships in 2028. Bellamy expressed his desire to lead Wales, emphasizing that it was the right place for him and his family. He acknowledged the difficulty of facing questions about his future during his first press conference as Wales boss, but reiterated his commitment to the national team.
