Bellamy 'committed' to Wales after Burnley talks

Craig Bellamy has reaffirmed his commitment to the Wales national football team, stating that it was his decision to decline a summer approach from Burnley. The 47-year-old Welsh player held talks with the Championship club in June, following Burnley's relegation from the Premier League. The Football Association of Wales had granted Bellamy permission to speak to the club after they triggered a compensation clause.

While Bellamy acknowledged the approach was flattering, he remained comfortable turning down the chance to return to club football. The former Burnley star emphasized his desire to lead Wales at a home European Championships in 2028, citing family and personal reasons for his decision to stay with the national team. Bellamy's comments came as he named his 28-man squad for Nations League A games against Portugal, Denmark and Norway.
