Arsenal starlet Max Dowman is back showing his brilliant best ✨

Seventeen-year-old Max Dowman etched his name into Carabao Cup history as Arsenal triumphed 4-2 against Ipswich Town at Portman Road. The young prodigy opened the scoring just six minutes into the match, marking his first competitive start of the season. Noni Madueke extended Arsenal's lead shortly after, and just 90 seconds into the second half, Dowman added a third goal, bringing his tally to two in a single game.

Mikel Merino completed the scoring for Arsenal in the 56th minute. Despite Ipswich's late response through Anis Mehmeti and a last-minute goal from former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom, Arsenal managed to secure a crucial round of 16 spot. Dowman's first goal made him the third-youngest scorer in Carabao Cup history at 16 years and 258 days.

Only Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere, both former Arsenal players, have scored younger in the competition. Dowman also became the second 16-year-old to score twice in a match for a Premier League club across all competitions, following Wayne Rooney's feat for Everton in 2002. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta included 17-year-old Marli Salmon in the starting lineup alongside Gabriel, while Theo Julienne made his competitive debut as a substitute.

Arsenal is set to resume Premier League action on Saturday against Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.
