Yemen’s Houthis say they targeted military facilities in Saudi Arabia

Yemen's Houthi forces announced on Monday that they had launched a large-scale military operation against military installations and infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. In retaliation for Saudi airstrikes, the Yemeni armed forces fired dozens of drones and ballistic missiles at targets, including fighter jet hangars, radars, runways, and ammunition depots, according to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree.

The operation, which Saree claimed inflicted significant losses, targeted facilities at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait. Neighboring cities of Khamis Mushait and Abha received brief alerts from the Saudi Civil Defence over the weekend. A Khamis Mushait resident reported hearing intense blasts that left fires burning for a long time.

Saree accused Saudi Arabia of conducting over 300 airstrikes in the past five days across Yemen, with the group launching the attacks from Khamis Mushait and Taif airbases. The Houthi insurgency has been engaged in renewed fighting with Saudi-backed government forces since Yemen's civil war reignited in July, following the group's declaration of a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia and targeting its ships in the Red Sea.
