Yemen’s Houthis say they targeted military facilities in Saudi Arabia

Yemen's Houthi forces claimed on Monday they had launched a significant military operation against Saudi Arabian military targets, retaliating for Riyadh's airstrikes in Yemen. Speaking to reporters, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree detailed the attack, which targeted various military installations and infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

The operation, according to Saree, resulted in "significant losses" for the Saudi side. The targets included fighter jet hangars, radars, runways, ammunition depots, and other key facilities, all located at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.

Saudi Civil Defence issued brief emergency alerts in the neighboring cities of Khamis Mushait and Abha, citing intense blasts and fires that burned for a long time. A resident of Khamis Mushait recounted that he and others found it difficult to sleep due to the loud explosions. Saree accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out more than 300 airstrikes across Yemen in the past five days, all launched from Khamis Mushait and Taif airbases.

Tensions between the two sides have been high since Yemen's civil war reignited in July, with the Houthis declaring a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia and targeting its ships in the Red Sea.
