Supreme Court justice nominee vows efforts to keep up with changing times

Supreme Court Justice nominee Kim Sung-soo has pledged to make efforts to help the judiciary keep pace with the rapid changes occurring in society, emphasizing the importance of not falling behind in these developments. During his parliamentary confirmation hearing at the National Assembly, Kim made this statement as President Lee Jae Myung had referred his nomination to the parliament for approval.

Kim stressed his commitment to contribute, even in a minor capacity, towards ensuring the judiciary remains up-to-date with the evolving world. He highlighted that society is experiencing swift changes, and the judicial system, responsible for safeguarding citizens' rights, should not lag behind in this regard. Last month, Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae had recommended Kim and another judge for appointment as new justices to the Supreme Court to the president.

However, President Lee only referred Kim to the National Assembly for approval, stating that the recommendation of the other judge lacked "procedural completeness."
