Plateau: 13 killed, others injured in attacks across 3 LGA’s in Jos

In Plateau State, at least 13 residents have been killed and several others injured in a series of attacks across three Local Government Areas, namely Jos South, Mangu, and Riyom. The attacks occurred on Sunday night, with each incident claiming the lives of several individuals.

In Jos South Local Government Area, nine passengers traveling to Jos were killed when suspected terrorists opened fire on their vehicle near Dungus community. According to Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders, the attack took place around 9:40 p.m., leaving several victims injured. Some of the injured were rushed to hospitals, but later succumbed to their injuries. Tengwong described the incident as a "sad development," noting that one victim was a member of Operation Rainbow.

In Mangu Local Government Area, suspected terrorists attacked Vodni community in Pushit District, killing two people. Four others sustained gunshot injuries and received treatment at a hospital in Mangu town.

Lastly, in Riyom Local Government Area, two people were killed in a separate attack at Tahoos around the same time. The fresh attacks have renewed concerns over the security situation in parts of Plateau State, with residents and communities calling for stronger measures to protect lives and property. As of now, the Plateau State Police Command has yet to comment on the incidents.
