Op Safed Sagar veteran assaulted with iron rod in Gurgaon over parking

A retired Indian Air Force Group Captain, Amit Kumar Gupta, was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod during a dispute over parking in Gurgaon, according to police. The incident occurred on September 10 when Gupta, who served during Operation Safed Sagar in the 1999 Kargil War, parked his vehicle at M3M Magnum Business Park, Sector 58.

Gupta and his family visited a restaurant for dinner around 8 pm, after which he attempted to park his car. However, he was reportedly turned away from multiple parking areas by the staff. When Gupta tried to reverse his car, a parking attendant allegedly began punching and striking the vehicle's window. As Gupta stepped out to object, the attendant allegedly produced an iron rod and struck him repeatedly on his head and left arm before fleeing the scene.

Rambir Singh, Station House Officer of Sector 65 police station, confirmed that an altercation broke out after Gupta was forced to drive around various parking points on the premises. Preliminary inquiries revealed CCTV footage showing Gupta being beaten with an iron rod, resulting in a head injury and a fracture to his left arm.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhilaksh Joshi stated that an FIR has been registered at the Sector 65 police station, and the suspect has been identified using CCTV footage. Police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant provisions of law, and the accused will be arrested as soon as possible.
