A Sabah Parliament member has demanded that Umno Sepang District Chief Noorazli Said apologize to the Catholic community over his recent sexual innuendo targeting a priest and a reference to the Bible as he spoke at the Umno Federal Conference (PAU). In a Facebook post, Tuaran MP and Tamparuli Adun Wilfred Madius Tangau said the innuendo was highly inappropriate and offensive to religious sentiments.

The religious pamphleteer should acknowledge his mistake, retract the false reference to Psalm 129, and publicly apologize without conditions to Catholics and the wider Christian community, he said. During his speech at Umno's Saturday presidential address, Noorazli recounted a joke about a priest driving a manual Proton Saga with a female prostitute.

Following Tangau's remarks, some Facebook users urged him to file a police report, noting the joke clearly touched on religious issues. Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Catholic Lawyers' Union (CLS) said its members would file a police report over Noorazli's comments, as they could provoke inter-religious harmony and disrespect for a religious community.

The CLS warned that Noorazli's act could potentially violate Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, as it involves disseminating indecent, vulgar, false, threatening or offensive content via social media. According to the CLS, Noorazli's statement discredited the priestly class by portraying them in a vulgar and unworthy manner.

"Such a statement in front of the public at a national political gathering is completely unacceptable and improper for any MP or party leader," the CLS said.
