Meeting with Tamil Nadu CM still on the cards, says Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is still planning to meet with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, despite the initial cancellation of a scheduled visit to Chennai. The meeting could take place in either Putrajaya or Chennai, according to Anwar, who is currently in India after attending the BRICS Leaders Summit. The meeting was to be held prior to Anwar's trip to Kerala, another state in South India.

Chennai was removed from the itinerary at the last minute, but Anwar explained to The Hindu that Tamil Nadu's office had been accommodating his schedule due to his prior commitments. The Prime Minister added that he had tried to accommodate a meeting with Vijay, as the both sides had been working to align their calendars. Despite the cancellation, Anwar maintained that goodwill remained strong between the two leaders.

Anwar praised Vijay for his early momentum and appeal among young voters, and called for a long-term approach to governance grounded in values, patience, and practical wisdom. He described Vijay as a "new voice of reason, of principles and good governance." During their conversation, Anwar also commended Vijay's zeal for reforms and commitment to addressing poverty and corruption.
