Mahama to receive cleared Accra-Kumasi Expressway right-of-way today

President John Dramani Mahama is set to formally receive a cleared 175.6-kilometre right-of-way for the Accra-Kumasi Expressway on Monday, September 14th, a significant step towards the construction of the highway. The ceremony will be held at Kwaso near Ejisu and it will encompass the land prepared by the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces for the expressway project, which spans 198.7 kilometres.

The cleared corridor is essential for constructing, operating, maintaining, and potentially expanding the highway in the future. The development was announced by Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Facebook, highlighting the project as the largest capital investment by any Ghanaian government in the nation's history.

He stated that the clearance of the right-of-way removes a major hurdle ahead of the construction phase. Once completed, the Accra-Kumasi Expressway is expected to greatly enhance road connectivity between Ghana's two largest cities, and the formal handover will allow construction to begin on the project.
