Lee, ADB chief agree to boost cooperation on critical minerals, AI

President Lee Jae Myung and the head of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Masato Kanda, met on Monday to strengthen their collaboration on critical minerals and artificial intelligence (AI), according to the presidential office. During their discussions at Cheong Wa Dae in Seoul, Lee and Kanda explored avenues to deepen ties in the energy sector, including nuclear power.

Lee suggested expanding cooperation between Korea and the ADB to stabilize the supply chain of critical minerals in Central Asia. He highlighted the region's abundant natural resources and geographical advantages as key factors. Kanda expressed optimism about working with Korea, stating that enhancing critical mineral supply chains is one of the ADB's top priorities.

In terms of artificial intelligence, Lee detailed the Korean government's initiatives to bolster the AI sector. He mentioned the "AI for all" project, an endeavor aimed at establishing an "AI-basic society" where people can access AI services regardless of income, age, or digital literacy. By integrating these areas of cooperation, Lee and Kanda aimed to achieve significant outcomes.
