Kremlin-linked Russian oligarch helped fund Trump Jr.'s wedding celebration

Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, linked to the Kremlin, contributed financially to the wedding celebration of Donald Trump Jr. and his wife Bettina. ProPublica reported that Kremlev paid for aspects of the festivities, including a private island in the Bahamas for around $100,000 per night and a fireworks display costing $70,000. The couple confirmed the generous donation in a post on Bettina's Instagram, stating it was a "very generous wedding gift" from a dear friend.

They emphasized that the weekend was meant to be a fun getaway with friends, not a wedding celebration, as the original plans had changed. Kremlev is the head of the International Boxing Association, which the International Olympic Committee severed ties with due to financial governance and ethical concerns. Despite Russian investigative media highlighting Kremlev's ties to the Kremlin, the Trumps defended the generous nature of his contribution, noting it was a personal and happy occasion that shouldn't be politicized.
